Ants? We should be able to squish them with our feet -- unless they were fire ants, no one wants to go near those.
About how many creatures would be released in to match up with the size of Shinbone?

I'm not against luring. In fact I feel that a smart race of creatures should be smart enough to attack towns

Doug's Mom would make a great monster to attack the town, she could look for men and violate them since no one would touch her w/ a 39 1/2 foot pole.
